Radon in Soil

Radon measurement for soil gas

Soil radon testing is an important measure for all types of construction projects, whether new build, refurbishment or extension. With our accredited detector, you can identify soil areas with high radon levels and take appropriate measures to ensure a healthy indoor environment for future residents or workers.

Performing a soil radon test is a cost-effective and preventive measure to avoid expensive remediation afterwards. In some cases, the municipal building authority requires you to know the soil radon level before granting a building permit.

In 2023, we switched to a new method for soil radon measurements. From October 1, 2024, only the new method will be processed and read.

  • When building a new single-family house, we recommend placing 3 detectors - 2 where the house will stand and 1 on another part of the plot.

  • When building several apartment buildings, at least one detector should be used per building.

  • Place the detector in the supplied bag and seal it.

  • Then place the detector in the bottom of a minimum 75 mm PVC pipe at a depth of 0.7-1 meter.

  • Seal only the top of the pipe with a cap and/or tape. Tip: Attach the detector hanging with a wire so that the detector does not fall through the pipe.

  • After 5-7 days, the detector is picked up and sent to the laboratory for analysis as soon as possible.
